Debased Aston.

By now you should all be aware that, as far as I'm concerned, Aston Martins are better than Porsches. Period. No argument.
Porsche have created the worlds most pointless off-roader (and also, as Clarkson pointed out, the first car to be named after an ingredient), the Cayenne, the first car that looks the same going forwards or backwards (the Boxster) and the new Panamera is difficult to look at without vomiting. Anyway, despite Porsche complete inability to actually style a car they have never attempted to do anything except high performance cars. Even their attempts at cheapness (924 or, a long time ago the 912 and the 914: anyone remember those?) were genuine sports cars albeit sports cars built down to a price. What Porsche have never done is prostitute their name on a piece of crap like Alfa Romeo did (Alfa Arna / Nissan Cherry Europe, anyone?) or resort to badge engineering like Austin Rover did with MG.

Aston Martin, however have done just that with this little bit of automotive crap;

No matter how Dr. Bez tries to spin it this is a bad idea that degrades decades of Aston Martin evolution and dilutes a currently very strong brand image.

Should I win the lottery tomorrow, I won't be putting my name down for an Aston until this abortion is killed off. I bet that threat will have Aston's share holders quaking in their hand made brogues!

I also think A) Small is beautiful is the coming reality for this crowded earth. fuel efficiency and cramming people onto streets. Barring that the H1N1 pandemic wiped a third of humanity off the face of the earth, it's only going to get crowded. B)the market for Aston's more traditional product is shrinking and the competition for that shrinking market is getting pretty fierce. conceptually, it's a good idea to segment your market base--GM did it very successfully for a very long time. GM simply proved that too segmented can make a company unwieldy and sluggish.

other than that it does look a bit like an abortion!
